Denver Arts Week is November 6 – 14, 2009! Lots of different events are planned, all kicking off with First Friday in Denver’s art districts. This year’s theme is “Know Your Arts”. So, I invite all of you to get to know MY art… with a FREE “flapjack” mini-painting!

What’s a “flapjack” and how can you get one? Well, while creating some mini-sized paintings in my studio recently, I noticed that my stack of finished art looked like a stack of flapjacks – just the right size at 4 x 4 inches. So, for my First Friday Open Studio (November 6th, 5-9pm), I’ll be painting flapjack art “to order” for my studio visitors (while “batter” supplies last). So, come by my studio, pick a color or two and I’ll paint you a free flapjack… what a great way to get to know my art! Click here for directions to my studio.
And for those of you not able to make it to my studio, I have 10 flapjacks ready to mail out to 10 lucky folks. Just leave me a comment on this post by the end of Arts Week (November 14th). On November 15th, I’ll RANDOMLY draw 10 winners from everyone that left a comment, and then contact each to get them mailed out (so be sure to enter your email address). Here’s what one of my Facebook Fans had to say about my flapjacks:
“Flapjacks…what’s not to love? They’ve got fabulous texture, incredible color & awesome composition, the perfect piece of affordable art for your abstract art fans!” — Candy in California
I’ll also be selling additional flapjack original paintings for $20 each (or 3 for $50). These are perfect for a mini-sized frame or I can also mount them on canvas for you for an additional $20 (my regular price for these mini paintings is $65!).

I love the contrast of how you are able to showcase the effect of using watercolor as your medium but in a geometric format. I’d love a flapjack! but I’m on the other side of the country so am just entering the drawing.

I can’t make it on Friday but I love the flapjact concept. They are perfect for a smaller area like my office.

Dear David,
Love your idea! You are such a good marketer. Hope that I am one of those ten lucky winners of one of your original Flapjacks!

I love your paintings and have made it to your gallery/studio every art walk I have participated in. This weekend is my birthday and I am taking a trip back to Gunnison where I once owned a small art supply store and gallery… I would love to see my flapjack made personally but if you have any left to send I will be happy to accept that too! Thanks for being such a cool artist and keeping me updated on your blog… I love to be inspired by your style and color. caio!

I stumbled on your blog one day while surfing and have been watching ever since.

Such brilliant use of color, sharp geometric shapes, and unique arrangements of the figures. Lovely, and reasonably priced no less. Very cool. Perhaps, I will stop by on Friday.

Cool idea. Cool name. Cool Artist
Posting to put my name in the hat! See your marketing works! and P.S. very cool new site! Hadn’t seen it yet. Hope all is well! P.P.S. my ticket is the one with the corner folded 8]
I was thinking it would be cool to have your flapjacks or artwork viewable in an album like on iTunes? like flipping through pages without scrolling or linking? Just an idea.
Maine would have blueberry flapjacks

Since I have moved away from Denver, I don’t get to see your art, except for the few pieces I picked up. I would love to add another piece to my collection!

I’d love to have a flapjack! Great idea. I love your art and have one of your limited edition prints.

I live in Ohio so I won’t be able to pick up a flapjack, but I think the idea it great! I look forward to seeing the pieces you post for sale. I think one would look great in my soon to be finished remodeled master bedroom. Then again, maybe I will win one! Will you post the ones for sale on the blog?

David -
Mia really enjoyed interviewing you for her artist report. She even painted a replica of the painting on your business card to hand in for her report (please don’t come after us for some kind of licensing issue). She thinks it is very cool to know an artist and would love to put a flapjack of yours on her wall.
Sorry if I was late for the mail out.

Hello David – I found your website a few months ago, searching for watercolor on black paper. It is something I have been experimenting with and wanted to know what others have tried. Thanks for all the info and inspiration! Please put my name in the drawing, I would love to have an original.

Thanks to everyone that left a comment… I drew 10 names and have contacted those folks, so your flapjacks should soon be on their way!
