It Came to Me in a Dream…

I arrived in my studio this morning with a plan to work on some in-progress projects when a very vivid image from a dream surfaced in my head.  A rectangle with two circles in the middle.  Kind of like a two-light traffic signal.

So, dropping everything, I just had to paint it.  I did two – here they are.  They’ll have to dry overnight – we’ll see how they turned out tomorrow!

Two new “fossils” paintings waiting to dry.

Be glad that you remembered it! I often solve problems in my dreams but then forget about it again before doing something concrete – like writing it down…

Can’t wait to see the final result!

David, very cool image. I had my first “painting” dream early this year and now have begun painting the series. I wrote the dream down in vague terms. I’m trusting the creative process to take over as the dream images are only a fog at this point. Nice work. I love seeing your studio set-up too. It looks much like mine. It takes time to develop what works. Thanks for sharing. Wishing you continued success and happiness. Mary

    Hi David,
I found you through Art Biz. I’m a California artist. Your work is really fresh and beautiful.
I have a reader on my site (MDE-ARt.com) who also resources his dreams for painting concepts. Please come visit my blog.

Thanks for the comments and compliments! I’m going to pay a bit more attention to these kinds of image and inspiration sources.

Mary – I agree on trusting my creative process to guide me with these vague images.

Vikki – Thanks! I’ll head over to your blog now…
